Internationale hedendaagse beeldende kunst met de nadruk op West Europa.
Wij tonen onze persoonlijke voorkeur. De galerie vertegenwoordigt ca. 20 kunstenaars nationaal en/of internationaal.
Zij bindt zich niet aan stromingen en richt zich niet op specifieke kunstuitingen.
Binnen het hele scala van de beeldende kunst kiezen wij kunstenaars die zich terdege bewust zijn van de kunsthistorie en kritisch, oprecht, en vaak obsessief werken aan een eigen oeuvre. De bindende factor tussen kunstenaars onderling en de galerie is de mentaliteit. 

Galerie van den Berge organiseerde 35 jaar lang tentoonstellingen en projecten vanuit een fysieke galerie in Goes (Zeeland - NL).
Per 1 januari 2026 werken Tom van den Berge en Joyce van Elzakker vanuit hun woonadres en organiseren zij pop-up tentoonstellingen en projecten op locatie.

Profile
International contemporary visual art with an emphasis on Western Europe.
We show our personal preference. The gallery represents approximately 20 artists nationally and / or internationally.
It does not bind to currents and does not focus on specific artistic expressions.
Within the full range of visual arts we choose artists who are well aware of art history and who work critically, sincerely and often obsessively on their own oeuvre. The binding factor between artists and the gallery is the mentality.

Galerie van den Berge organized exhibitions and projects for 35 years from a physical gallery in Goes (Zeeland, Netherlands).
As of January 1, 2026, Tom van den Berge and Joyce van Elzakker will be working from their home address and organizing pop-up exhibitions and projects on location.
 

Historie
Na 2 jaar pop-up tentoonstellingen op wisselende locaties betrokken Tom van den Berge en Joyce van Elzakker in november 1990 de etage van het pand Wijngaardstraat 3 in Goes als vaste basis voor hun activiteiten. Naast het organiseren van galerie tentoonstellingen en projecten werd regelmatig samengewerkt met culturele instelllingen binnen- en buiten de regio -  waaronder Buro Beeldende Kunst Vlissingen, het Zeeuws Museum, de Beyerd (Breda) en The Living Art Museum (Reykjavik). Via de Stichting ATOL  en Stichting First Floor werden de beeldende kunst presentaties van het Zeeland Nazomer Festival (voorheen Zeeland Cultuurmaand) georganiseerd.
In de periode 1999/2000 organiseerden Galerie van den Berge en Galerie In Situ (Aalst - BE) een aantal exposities onder de naam 'W3 Galeries' in één van de tentoonstellingsruimtes van DeWillem3, Vlissingen
Galerie van den Berge verhuisde in 2003 naar Westwal 45, Goes en betrok, kort na de viering van het 25 jarig bestaan, in de nazomer van 2016 het statige pand Albert Joachimikade 5 (Rijksmonument 1868)
Per 1 januari 2026 is galerie van den Berge een nomadische galerie die zich richt op het presenteren van haar kunstenaars via pop-up tentoonstellingen, projecten op locatie en kunstbeurzen.

De galeriehouders hebben ruime ervaring als gastcurator en coördineerden diverse kunstprojecten.
Tom van den Berge was jarenlang lid van de Culturele raad Zeeland / College van adviseurs Provincie Zeeland, lid van Gemeentelijke advies commissies (o.a. Gemeente Borssele, Gemeente Vlissingen) en diverse aankoop commissies (Kunstuitlenen, CBK's)
Hij coördineerde voor het Praktijkbureau van het Mondriaanfonds het project ‘Overzuid’ in Goes en was voorzitter van de Stichting First Floor, Stichting W45 Goes en Stichting Kunst Netwerk Zeeland.

Galerie van den Berge nam deel aan de kunstbeurzen Art Amsterdam (Beurs van Berlage, Westergasfabriek), Lineart Gent, 30-40 Beurs voor jonge kunst Knokke, Art Amsterdam/KunstRAI Amsterdam, Art Frankfurt, Art Brussels, Amsterdam Drawing, Art The Hague, Art Rotterdam, PAN Amsterdam, Art on Paper Amsterdam & NAP+ Amsterdam

History
After two years of pop-up exhibitions at various locations, Tom van den Berge and Joyce van Elzakker took the floor of the Wijngaardstraat 3 building in Goes in November 1990 as a fixed base for their activities. In addition to organizing gallery exhibitions and projects, there was regular collaboration with cultural institutions within and outside the region - including Buro Beeldende Kunst Vlissingen, the Zeeuws Museum, the Beyerd (Breda) and The Living Art Museum (Reykjavik). The visual art presentations of the Zeeland Nazomer Festival (formerly Zeeland Culture Month) were organized via the ATOL Foundation and Foundation First Floor.
In the period 1999/2000 Galerie van den Berge and Gallery In Situ (Aalst - BE) organized a number of exhibitions under the name 'W3 Galeries' in one of the exhibition spaces of DeWillem3, Vlissingen.
Galerie van den Berge moved in 2003 to Westwal 45, Goes and, shortly after the celebration of the 25th anniversary, in the late summer of 2016 occupied the stately Albert Joachimikade 5 building (National Monument 1868).
As of January 1, 2026, Galerie van den Berge will be a nomadic gallery that focuses on presenting its artists through pop-up exhibitions, on-site projects, and art fairs.

The gallery owners have extensive experience as guest curator.
Tom van den Berge was a member of the Zeeland Cultural Council / Advisory Board of the Province of Zeeland for many years, a member of municipal advisory committees (including the municipalities of Borssele and Vlissingen) and various purchasing committees (art lending, CBKs).
He coordinated the ‘Overzuid’ project in Goes for Praktijkbureau Mondriaan Fund, and was chairman of the First Floor Foundation, the W45 Goes Foundation, and the Zeeland Art Network Foundation.

Galerie van den Berge participated in art fairs Art Amsterdam (Beurs van Berlage, Westergasfabriek), Lineart Gent, 30-40 Beurs for young art Knokke, Art Amsterdam / KunstRAI Amsterdam, Art Frankfurt, Art Brussels, Amsterdam Drawing, Art The Hague, Art Rotterdam, PAN Amsterdam,  Art on Paper Amsterdam & NAP+ Amsterdam

The Final Show

 ‘The Final Show’ markeert een bijzonder moment: de laatste tentoonstelling in de vaste ruimte van Galerie van den Berge voordat de galerie vanaf 2026 een nomadische koers inzet. Alle 21 kunstenaars met wie het duo al jarenlang samenwerkt zijn vertegenwoordigd, waardoor de presentatie aanvoelt als een rijk overzicht van drie decennia. Het resultaat is een veelzijdige groepstentoonstelling waarin uiteenlopende praktijken (van schilderkunst en sculptuur tot installaties en minimale formaliteit) in één ruimte samenkomen. Daarmee vormt ‘The Final Show’ niet alleen een afscheid van een fysieke plek, maar ook een ode aan de brede blik en compromisloze keuzes die de galerie altijd hebben gekenmerkt. De tentoonstelling loopt tot en met 29 november in Goes. 

The Final Show marks a special moment: the last exhibition in Galerie van den Berge's permanent space before the gallery embarks on a nomadic journey in 2026. All 21 artists with whom the duo has been working for years are represented, making the presentation feel like a rich overview of three decades. The result is a multifaceted group exhibition in which diverse practices (from painting and sculpture to installations and minimal formality) come together in one space. Thus, ‘The Final Show’ is not only a farewell to a physical location, but also an ode to the broad vision and uncompromising choices that have always characterized the gallery. The exhibition runs until November 29 in Goes.

Helaas zijn wij niet in staat op al deze aanvragen te reageren.
Wij zijn daarom genoodzaakt het volgende te melden:

• Aanvragen van kunstenaars worden uitsluitend geaccepteerd via e-mail.
  Wij zullen uw website en CV bekijken en reageren indien wij belangstelling hebben.
• Op ongevraagd ontvangen documentatie/portfolio's/catalogi wordt niet gereageerd, e.e.a. wordt ook niet geretourneerd tenzij er een gefrankeerde retourenveloppe is ingesloten.

Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to all these requests.
We are therefore forced to report the following:

• Requests from artists are only accepted via e-mail.
  We will view your website and CV and respond if we are interested.

• Unsolicited documentation / portfolios / catalogs are not responded to, these will also not returned unless a franked return envelope is included.
